Here enters a dazzling blaze of lady,
now enter a soldier cold and dignified,
she's intrigued
by the quiet mystery, his heart's on fire.
The miniatures of themselves grow older
and when they leave the home grows colder sadly,
of
a faded blaze and a crusty mystery, they begin to tire.
He stops buying flowers, she no longer bakes,
when he forgot her birthday,
she ignored his.
Last time that he smiled she doused it with surprise,
so awkward with each other, they never learned how,
Love
that's young needs little care to survive,
and so long they leave it 'till all is gone but cinders.
Charm is bruised with each attempt
to revive,
but it's stubborn kindness that finally brings the tinder,
for love often stands more on kindness than romance.
The spaniel is
greeted with a warm affection,
she with a kind of polite rejection, he feels it's wrong;
she can learn little of his day and he dare
not ask her –
the answer takes too long.
A picture of the newly-wed couple’s uneasy
looking at their future, wondering, "How could
it be?"
But just then his eye is held and his heart remembers,
so shamefully.
Now he's off buying flowers and showers her with
care,
she's stunned but he's determined to love her.
Last time that he smiled she was ready to reply
and forgive him for his baking on
her birthday.
